A Product Transaction carries documentation and approvals for a product as such, not for one manufacturing lot: Initial Samples and Product Carbon Footprints. It links to a product in your registry and, instead of a lot, to a reference number or to another product transaction.
Where: Product Transactions > Supplier for what your suppliers send you, Product Transactions > Customer for what you send your customers.

Create a Customer Transaction or Respond to a Customer Request, with the differences listed below. |
Request a product transaction from a supplier
Where: Product Transactions > Supplier
-
Click Create new Product Transaction.
-
Pick the Product Transaction type: Initial Sample or Environmental Declaration. The Header and Subheader come from the template and can be edited.
-
Select the Supplier and your Product. Both are required.
-
Fill in what you know: order numbers, Quantity & Unit, Delivery date, Expiry date (not for Environmental Declarations), extra email recipients, custom fields and Notes.
-
Click Request From Supplier. The arrow next to it offers Request From Supplier & Duplicate and Request & Open.
The request now has status Requested . A supplier connected in ChainTraced sees it under their Product Transactions > Customer; any supplier receives it by email if notifications are on.
Notifications and reminders for product transactions are set under Company Settings, Product Transaction Supplier Notifications & Reminders, separately from lot transactions. See Account setup and company settings.
Sending one to a customer: what differs from a lot transaction
The flow is the one in Create a Customer Transaction or Respond to a Customer Request, with these differences:
|
Lot transaction |
Product transaction |
|---|---|
|
Link or create a Manufacturing lot. |
Fill in the Reference number section instead. Click Add Reference number to enter your own reference and attach files, or Link a product transaction you already have, for example an approval you received from your supplier and want to pass on. The customer does not see who your supplier is. A reference number is required before you can submit. |
|
Test results are entered on the lot. |
Results and documents are attached to the transaction itself. |
|
No expiry. |
An Expiry date can be set, and the transaction shows when it has passed. |
